How to Remove Pink from White Fabrics When Dyed by Red Garments

It is possible to get pink stains out of white clothes that have been washed with red fabrics if the clothes are suitable for washing with bleach by adding Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach to the wash. Alternatively, you can soak white garments that have turned pink after being washed with red clothing in a solution of water and Clorox® Clothes Stain Remover Supreme Whitener or Clorox® Laundry Stain Remover Intense Whites. Try the following steps to whiten your whites: In the washing machine:

  1. Add
    Add 8 oz of Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach in the washing machine, taking care that it does not spill directly onto the garments.
  2. Wash
    Wash as usual with your favorite detergent.

Soak:

  1. Add
    Add 1.5 oz of Clorox® Clothes Stain Remover Supreme Whitener or 2 tablespoons (1 oz) of Clorox® Laundry Stain Remover Intense Whites in 1 gallon of water along with your favorite detergent.
  2. Soak
    Soak for 5 minutes, and up to 1 hour for tough stains.
  3. Rinse and Wash
    Rinse and then put the garment in the washing machine. Do a normal wash using your usual detergent.
For best results, wash at 104 °F. Always read the washing instructions for each garment carefully. If you have questions about using bleach on a garment, do a quick test to see if it can be bleached. Mix 2 teaspoons (0.3 oz) of Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach with 1/3 cup of water. Apply a drop of this solution to an inconspicuous area of the fabric. Rinse after 5 minutes and let dry. If there is no color loss, you can use the product safely.
