When used as directed, Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach is safe for septic systems. Bleach quickly breaks down mostly into salt and water.

It is true that both Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach and a household bleach (such as Clorox® Bleach) contain sodium hypochlorite. However, Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach also contains surfactants (detergent-like ingredients) that give it more cleaning power on hard surfaces. Because this product is formulated for use on hard surfaces, it should not be used to wash clothes.

Can I use Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach on all kitchen and bathroom surfaces?

Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach is suitable for cleaning most bathroom surfaces, including glazed tiles, tubs, fiberglass, glass shower doors, vinyl curtains, bathroom countertops, cabinets, sinks and no-wax floors. However, you should rinse the product immediately after using it on plastic, vinyl, metal, old porcelain or worn plastic laminate. You can also use it on hard, nonporous kitchen countertops, including synthetic or cultured marble, but not natural marble. You can even use it on other surfaces in the home including linoleum, Formica® * countertops, stainless steel, sealed granite, Corian® * countertops, and chrome.
