How to Use Bleach in Laundry

Clorox® Bleach helps to keep whites white. Follow these instructions. For front-loading washing machines:

  1. Add
    Add your regular detergent to the washing machine before adding the clothes or bleach.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the maximum level with Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 8 oz of bleach directly into the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and start the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.

For top-loading washing machines:

  1. Add
    Add your regular detergent to the washing machine before adding the clothes or bleach.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the maximum level with Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 8 oz of bleach directly into the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and start the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.
After washing a load of laundry with bleach, you can do a normal load if the appliance is in top condition. If your washing machine is working properly, you shouldn't see any bleach residue inside the drum, so the next load you wash shouldn't be damaged.
